Faced with the revelation that Steve wasn’t on something when he said there were Pod People (well he was but he wasn’t delusional), they decide to follow up on the clue of the abandoned house presented to them by Professor North.

Armed with a narrative clip and the worlds spiciest glasses cleaner spray, Valerie, Steve, and Wilberforce first talk to the letting agents and then get ready to prepare the ground for a break in later.

However will they be able to work out what is going on, what caused the fire that supposedly killed the two brothers, and whether the Pod People are On To Them.

WFRP 2nd Ed – The Goodest Goose- Session 3

(n.b. We had some sound issues again the buzz has been removed but there were a lot of sections that were damaged or very quiet. Please accept our apologies, we will attempt to address these issues going forward.)

So in an episode that starts with us all being quite antagonistic (we love our listeners really but pain makes us cranky!), we continue on with the adventure of the Goodest Goose. Joining our heroes as they sit down for dinner with Lord Aschaffenburg, Henrik, the sleepy servants, the wounded guards, the dodgy doctor, the bandaged weirdo, the librarian, and of course the Burly Dog Perv ™ we wait to see if the Goose is actually good.

The process of elimation has been set up, everyone is eating something different (Goose alone, Goose and vegetables, Venison alone, and Venison with vegetables) but they haven’t taken account of the hardyness of the Dwarf (mmm more Scorpion Venom please) or the appetite of the halfling (Thirds pleaszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz).

What could go wrong?

A Talky One – The Terrible Loss and board game roundup

Well it’s finally happened as we have finally done another Talky One! In this episode we lament the loss of the FFG/GW partnership and discuss the terrible havoc this will wreak on some of our favourite games, which may disappear entirely in the near future (possibly even pulped :(). We briefly discuss the fact that Tabletop (Wil Wheaton’s excellent tabletop gaming show) is not really out until 2017.

We then move on to talking about games we have recently played, with Archive telling us about Scythe, a game she didn’t really understand but thoroughly enjoyed! We go on to discuss Cthulhu Wars and the storage problems that Onslaught Three poses. We go on to other games including Epic Spell Wars, Smashup, and other games we have recently played or have expansions.

The Dead Of Night – The Fatal Mysteries of Osiris

Playing a game which I first heard about on the Good Friends of Jackson Elias Podcast (HERE), called Dead Of Night we now step into what I believe is an entirely new genre; Ancient Egyptian Slasher Horror. Add to this we actually welcome a new member of the Cult!

With the Nile not rising in Nautecara the Pharoah has dispatched his daughter to the Temple of Osiris where every year the ritual of the Mysteries of Osiris is performed to ensure that the river does indeed rise, bringing with it the fertile soil needed to ensure everyone in the city does not starve to death.

All is not well however and as the Princess travels across the Nile in her barge, several other boats set off to the temple, boats filled with Irate people intent on taking their revenge on the priests and priestesses of the temple.

What is going on in the Temple, has the Elderly High Priest finally lost it? Why is the High Priestess of Isis so put out, and what has the Holy Eunuch got to hide?

Having reached the manor house the adventurers begin looking into the problem of the sleepy servants. First off, sorting out the terrible defensive position of the manor, really important when you are absolutely surrounded by Beastmen.

There’s also the issue of dinner, the Cook seems to be drunk, and could the food be being adulterated with something that is causing the low morale of the servants at the moment?

Lord Heschaffenburg believes there may be a rebellion building amongst his staff, they are surly and dangerous, and they keep sleeping all the time. This combines with his house being surrounded by forest filled with Beastmen he wants to find out what is going on and also hire a bit extra muscle.

Will the heroes survive? Will the Elf and Dwarf end up in a fist fight? Will Jono find a patron? Will Gretchin realise her last name is potato?

Welcome to the world of “Darkness” where in we follow three university students as they try to work out where the hell Trevor has gone with their results. They need those results. Like really need them.

This triggers a romp through the university campus, there’s breaking, there’s entering, there’s attempted seduction. There may even be mystery!

The main question however is… WHERE THE HELL IS TREVOR AND THE RESULTS!

Sorry for the delay but Migraine’s made it super difficult to do editing yesterday and we have no buffer what so ever due to Larp season and so on.

We discuss the CP’s Renewal very briefly before actually starting with the Cthulhu.

With the Sarnathian plot.. defused shall we say, the Investigators first deal with the question of whether Guilliame should be allowed onto the train and then begin to prepare for the funeral of Blackjack. First though are a number of people on the train that they really should be talking to!

The Buzz is back again. But only occasionally, unfortunately it seems to be very uneven and particularly affects the quieter sections.

Episode 121

Having been approached by the Sarnathians, who although pretty are a little bit on the morally corrupt side of things, the players set off to negotiate with the Beings of Ib. This may be a problem if they cannot keep their dinners down while doing so (the beings of Ib are disgusting although not as disgusting as the Sarnathians).

They also continue through the dreamlands, as the players continue dealing with the strange otherworld they have found themselves in. None of them have yet decided what they want to divest themselves of into the abyss of Nodens, could this be a mistake? Who knows!

Is that someone waiting to get on the train? I’m not certain if they should be allowed on!

This session stops a bit abruptly as the recording machine stopped recording… YOU HAD ONE JOB MACHINE!!

We get to a slightly anarchic start as it is unbelievably hot in Cult Central. Before the Investigators can get out of Venice they need to find Oliver Oldstaff who was last seen fleeing from the Palazzo Di Rezzoniani. Will they find the missing Antiquarian, or will they have to flee before the hammy fist of the Fascisti falls on them.

With the leg firmly in their possession they should leave as soon as possible…

Of course when they leave they will be tired, so they will likely sleep, and perhaps (definitely!) be drawn into the dreamlands to the Train in Henri Peters!

Burnt Orange Swain and Iris are still down in the Underway trying to work out how they can save the world from murderous Jeeves Bioroids, while at the same time trying to avoid being in a traffic accident. Their new “friend” Apex seems to think that if he (it?) gets uploaded to the GRINDL servers that he can stop the upload.

Will they be able to upload Apex onto the system in time? Will the Cleaners catch up with them? Will Burnt Orange Swain be distracted by shiny things?

With Bice telling them that her mistress is in Dire Straits (not the band but the actual predicament) they head out to find everyones favourite flamboyant socialist Georgio.

Will they be able to save Miss Stagliani from a fate worse than death, that of being married to the man made of ham Alberto Rossini. Will they be able to get hold of the Sedefkar Simulacrum if they start a ruck with the Black Shirts however, and even if they can… will they survive the effort to get it with their sanity, and bodies, intact.

Finally we try the “brother” of the Brown Rice Tea, that so traumatised us that I cannot even remember what session we reviewed it on.

The later half of the recording has some sound issues sadly, I have attempted to clean them up.

Having received a tip off that the “Mole people” do not like Mad Barry the arms dealer. It obviously follows that the best way to get in with Gavin Lorrikan their leader is to go and assasinate him and take “proof” to them.

It’s a decidedly Shadowrun plan.

Riot wanders off to do spirity things, Brochan has yet to reappear. So it’s left to Lucinda, Leonid (von Sturm) and Menelaus (plus drones) to take out the target. He’s got bodyguards though, comparable to Leonid, and he’s a gun dealer. The Ship Inn on Newcomen St is also the local hangout for the Norsefire supporters those bastions of fairness and acceptance (or you know not) and they might not get involved.

Yeah Right.

They start hunting down the Leg of the Sedefkar Simulacrum, heading to the Gremanci doll factory over the fetid and oily canals. Rumours of Humanoid Fish and even Black Death abound. The Blackshirts are still watching them, and possibly more supernatural opponents are also paying attention to them.

Instead they find themselves in a prosthetic limb factory. With humanoid sized limbs all around, could the Simulacrum be hiding in plain site?

We start by going into the difference between Biscuits and USA Biscuits, and Gravy and USA Gravy, and the confusion when you tell an American you are intending to dip your biscuits in tea.

Then they get on with the investigation of Venice, specifically, where the hell has the leg of the Sedefkar Simulacrum got to! Given it is probably hidden in the Basilica of St Marco they decide to go and do a little… Robbery? Vandalism?

With the rumours of humanoid fish in the canals however, is the debacle of Norfolk coming back to haunt them. Will they be able to find the leg and leave the City of Canals, or will the death that is stalking them finally catch them up. Will there be a farce at the funeral?

Into Dream Lausanne they go, to try and find either Edgar Wellington or the Sedefkar Scroll. However, Dream Lausanne is not like the other Dreamlands they have passed through, it is dark and unpleasant place filled with Omens and Hellish Nightmares. It slowly erodes their sanity as they pass through it in their searches.

Can they find Wellington, and if they can is there some way of saving him, given he has been murdered in the real world.
